Attired in the cherished item of clothing given to her by her godmother, Giselle Pinard, Shivonne made her grand entrance on stage; a moment which defined for all who saw her, where she was destined to go.

Subsequent to this was her performance at her school’s Christmas Concert, where she played the role of “Oscar the Grouch” from Sesame Street. Such a memorable performance it was, that jokingly the name became stuck to her; her peers and past classmates being the pioneers for this re-christening.

West Indies captain, Trinidad and Tobago’s own Brian Lara became the toast of the cricketing world when he set a world record for the highest individual test score, passing Matthew Hayden’s 380 on the third day of the fourth and final Cable and Wireless Test against England at St John’s, Antigua.

Almost exactly 10 years after he hit a then-world mark of 375 against England on the same ground, Lara took his score from 313 overnight to 380 with a straight six off spinner Gareth Batty before sweeping him for four next ball.

A delighted Lara, also the holder for the highest ever First Class score of 501, set the region alight when he passed Hayden’s score and was congratulated by England’s players as the crowd gave him a standing ovation. Back home in Trinidad there were loud cheers too as the locals were either preparing or already into their Easter Monday lunches.

The “Prince of Port of Spain” kissed the ground before play resumed as he went on to reach 400 not out and then declare with the WI on 751-5 before leaving the visitors tottering with five wickets down for 171.
